About

I’ve dedicated a lot of time in my life to multimedia application development using tools like Flash and Director. Lately I’ve been creating video games from “casual games” using CC++ to “adver gaming” using Flash/Flex. I’m the CTO at Karibu Games in Ecuador and I’ve discovered that you never stop learning. I hope this blog can be used to help people on using Multimedia software. I will also use the blog to comment about things I learn and how I managed to resolve them.

Thanks everyone for the support.

  1. I don’t know if this is the right place to ask you this. But I’m having some issues with the LocalNotification ANE on Android. When I close the application (AIR app) with the Task Manager built into Android, I then don’t receive any notification afterwards. I looked at the source code and there seems to be an Intent to start the AlarmIntentService to receive the notification, but I’m not sure if it’s actually working, also it’s not starting the app in any way. Another thing, if the application is in the background and I receive a notification, it doesn’t open the application (I assume that is 100% normal and I’m fine with that). But what I wonder too is, if the application is in the foreground, should the application be receiving the event that a notification has been received ? I’m asking because, currently if the application is in the foreground and I receive a notification, no AS3 code gets invoked until the user goes into the android status bar and clicks on the notification. Is that normal too, or should the event be triggering the AS3 handler if the application is in the foreground. This last thing works a bit like that on iOS (it invokes the AS3 handler if the application is in the foreground).

Let me know if you can answer those 2 questions/situations and how they should behave.
Note: this was tested on Android 2.3.3
